Administrative User Guides and Web-based Tutorials

AIMS

AIMS is the Account Information Management System. AIMS is a Web-based system that allows faculty members to gain access to financial information for sponsored project accounts through the IBISFIN database in Data Warehouse. AIMS provides summary fiscal information regarding principal investigator's grants and contracts. It is not a comprehensive account-reporting tool; rather, it provides a snapshot of the account, in familiar agency budget formats. These guides will introduce you to AIMS and give you an overview of its features and capability.

Data Warehouse

Penn State's Data Warehouse provides users with easy, flexible, and widely-available ad hoc access to institutional data for analytical and reporting purposes. With more than two dozen databases available, it is the source for information on students, employees, classroom facilities, applicants, and financial transactions.

eCommerce

AIS, through eCommerce Services, has centralized the payment processing technology necessary for a secure, stable eCommerce environment at Penn State. These services, which include ePay, ePay Credit Card Swipe, eCommerce API, and eStore Hosting, provide a fast, cost-effective approach for departments adding eCommerce capabilities to their Web applications and business processes.

eDDS

eDDS is a tool that enables users to access and view reports through the Web. Reports can be viewed with a Web browser, Adobe Acrobat, text editor, or a word processor and can be saved, edited, or printed locally. Benefits include lower paper costs, less paper use, reduction in manual distribution of reports, and quicker distribution.

FIT

FIT is the Financial Information Tool and is for budget administrators to perform management functions for one account with IBIS financial data. FIT can be used from a personal computer to manage research grants and contracts, view balances, review detailed financial records, monitor encumbrances, and produce timely periodic reports tailored to meet the department's needs. These guides will introduce you to FIT and give you an overview of its features and capability.

GI

The GI, or Generalized Interface, enables developers throughout the University to use a variety of programming languages to design Web applications that perform business functions using AIS data. The GI facilitates the exchange of information between departmental systems and central AIS databases, using the Interface as a "bridge" to AIS data and a "repository" for Web services. These guides will introduce you to the GI and give you an overview of its features and capability.

PAWS

PAWS is the Penn State Administrative Web Suite. An administrative user will know PAWS as the place to go on the Web to get work done.
