Remote Access via VPN
FIT can now be accessed from outside of the Penn State network. A VPN (Virtual Private Network) connection allows Penn State staff or faculty the ability to connect remotely into the network using a secure connection. To learn more about VPN and the platforms supported, please visit ASET's VPN website.
Prerequisites
In order to install and use the VPN client, you must have:
- A direct network connection (cable or DSL modem and network adapter/interface card) or an internal or external modem
- Microsoft Dial-Up Networking (DUN) version 1.2 or greater for Windows 95. DUN 1.3 for Windows 95 is a recommended performance and security upgrade and is available as a free download from the Microsoft Web site. Windows 98 includes the DUN 1.3 functionality.
